First time homebuyers, house hunting in SoCal on a tiny budget. We searched four years through job changes and promotions and paying off debt, always feeling like we were inching closer to landing a house, yet always getting outbid. Then the pandemic hit. We watched home prices skyrocket and it was as if we were starting over. Three years later— finally caved and reached out to a buyer’s agent that had been contacting me after I requested info on a property. The agent immediately began pushing us to bid over our budget ceiling and ignored criteria for what we were looking for. After trying to convince me to drop my trusted lender and go with his, I reached out to my lender for guidance. He offered to introduce me to an amazing buyer’s agent he knew. We didn’t feel pressured to make offers on properties we didn’t like. If we went “Leroy Jenkins” and suggested an offer too high, she would tell us straight up that the property won’t appraise for that price. She would walk me through complex inspection/documentation processes via text any hour of the day, and was reliably prompt to respond. We always felt like she was in our corner. Based on our budget and asks in an insane seller’s market, we were probably the toughest clients an agent could take on. I’m very happy (and relieved!) to say that we are scheduled to close escrow on 08/11/23. Kelly’s knowledge, talent, and negotiating skills won us a property we love for 5% under asking price at at time when similar properties are selling for $50K over list. Throughout the process she always listened to our needs, was thoughtful about properties she suggested, and was honest about issues she observed and how they could affect us. Most of all, Kelly stood by us long after other agents would’ve ghosted us for clients with a bigger budget. Our family will always be grateful to Kelly Jones for bringing us home at last.
